JOB SUMMARY:
The primary role of the position is to carry out all aspects of maintenance, modification, calibration and testing of on-line process analyzers. The candidate will perform specialized instrumentation troubleshooting and perform scheduled maintenance procedures for plant on-line process analyzers such as Gas chemotherapy, total sulfur analyzers, moisture analyzers and Stack Analyzers, Oil in Water, Oxygen, Infrared, Turbidity, Chlorine, Moisture, THC, TOC and other HC type of analyzers. The candidate would also mentor junior technicians. This position is responsible for the supporting of on-stream process analyser, Fire and Gas systems, including design concept, engineering/specification, integration, installation and maintenance in Chemical Plant.
JOB DUTIES
- Conduct routine monitoring and maintenance to provide the highest possible availability/operation of all analyzer systems
- Interpret technical documentation - data sheets, vendor manuals, troubleshooting flowcharts etc. Interpret/prepare technical drawings - from simple schematics to complex PID's, ILD's and PLC ladder logic diagrams
- Adhere to safety rules, policies and safe work practices

- Conduct routine monitoring and maintenance to provide the highest possible availability of all analyzers' systems including sampling conditioning systems
- Identify, recognize and demonstrate safe usage of power and hand tools for the job

- Provide work direction and technical assistance to team members. Maintain maintenance logs and prepare work reports. Works with Operations and Operations Engineering to solve related system problems.
- Perform daily functional checks for each process analyzer and sample system
- Check gas/ liquid standards, and carrier cylinders weekly for proper pressure
- Ensure replacement standards are ordered and for critical analyzers have replacement standards on site before the expiration date
- Identify any repairs needed for the system and replace any part of the process analyzer and FGS loop (tubing, valves, fittings, columns, detectors, regulators, etc.) when warranted by physical examination
- Maintain records of all maintenance actions taken (Preventive Maintenance, non-routine maintenance and repair activities on all Process and Environmental Analyzers)
- Installation, maintenance and calibration of on stream gas chromatographs
- Installation, maintenance and calibration of various utility analyzers including moisture, oxygen, CO2, conductivity, MFR, hydrocarbon, pH
- Recognize malfunctions in individual equipment and perform maintenance as necessary to correct problems
- Interface with DCS, PLC and analyzer host systems
- Monitor process variables and conditions to ascertain the current state of the operated process
- Monitor and recognize dangerous and/or emergency conditions within the process and perform procedures necessary to remove the condition or shutdown the process in order to protect personnel, community, environment and equipment
- Work with co-workers in the response to emergency situations requiring coordinating equipment shutdown, and/or evacuation
- Operate and perform activities in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures
- Write repair work request for routine and major maintenance that cannot be handled as part of normal operations using a work order system
- Utilize proper Lock out/Tag out operating and safety procedures
- Must be a self-starter and be able to prioritize work based on business needs
